How do I determine the right beanbag?

For beanbags: the bigger the better! But of course a huge beanbag does not always fit in every interior. The precise dimensions of each beanbag are stated on the product page.


Traditional beanbag

The traditional beanbag is like a large cushion. This beanbag offers the most options. Whether you want to lie down or sit, everything is possible with a traditional beanbag. Shake up the beanbag, place it in the desired position and relax.

You can lay the beanbag flat so that it forms a bed and you can lounge on it. Or place the beanbag upright and sit in it, the beanbag then forms like a chair.


Beanbag with backrest

A beanbag with a backrest has the advantage that you can immediately collapse on it. You do not have to put the beanbag in the correct position. It's no problem to relax in this beanbag, but you won't be able to lie down.

Beanbag with back and armrest

Beanbags with back and armrest have a more active sitting position. The backrest is upright and the armrests prevent you from slumping.

Really slumping or lying down is not possible with this beanbag. But for having a good conversation or reading a book, a beanbag with armrest is ideal.


Puffing

The smaller poufs are mainly used as a side table or as a stool to sit on.

The extra large pouffes are suitable as a side table but also very suitable for lounging. Then do not fill the beanbag completely full, or remove some of the filling, so that you sink comfortably into the ottoman.


Children's beanbag

The same rules and recommendations as above apply to children's beanbags. However, the beanbags are smaller so that they easily fit in a children's room.



A 'water-repellent' beanbag, what does that mean?

The Sit&Joy beanbags are made of water-repellent fabric. This fabric has undergone a treatment so that the fabric does not absorb water. Water droplets remain on the cover and slide off easily.

Water-repellent is not waterproof. For example, the stitched seams are not 100% waterproof.

The beanbag is filled with EPS beads from FlexiPearl©. These pearls do not absorb water.



What do you mean by 'outdoor' use?

All beanbags we sell are of excellent quality and can withstand a knock, sun and rain shower. The beanbags are also easy to clean with a wet cloth and mild soap.

The cover of the beanbag is made of a special water-repellent fabric. If the beanbag gets wet once in a while, that's no problem. Due to the water-repellent fabric, the beanbag will absorb little water. However, the stitched seams are not waterproof. The FlexiPearl pearlsFortunately, once the beanbag is filled, they do not absorb water. But if the beanbag is very wet on the inside, it may take a long time to dry.

It is wise to store the beanbag in a dry, dark place after use. This way the colors last best and do not fade. If you leave the beanbag outside all summer, the warranty will be void.


Weather spots

If you leave the beanbag outside, weather spots can form. Especially under a tree, canopy or in the shade, the beanbag will stay wet longer and dry less quickly. Weather spots can form after one or two days and are not covered by the warranty.


Colorfast

Colors will fade in the sun. Unfortunately, this cannot be remedied.



Do you also print beanbags?

We do not print beanbags. But the Puffi brand beanbags do not contain brand labels on the beanbag. Just a Puffi key ring. You can easily replace this with a key ring or tag of your own brand. Super handy for fairs, festivals and beach bars.

Which beanbags can be printed?

All beanbags can be printed. Please remember the following:

  • A dark logo on a dark fabric is not clearly visible.
  • The same color logo on the same color fabric is often not clearly visible.

Which printing technique do you recommend?

We recommend digital transfer printing. This makes it possible to print all colors (CMYK).



Do you also rent out beanbags?

We do not rent beanbags. Because shipping, collection, storage and especially cleaning costs no longer outweigh the purchase of a new beanbag, we have stopped doing this. The rental price is just as high as buying a new beanbag. We therefore recommend purchasing the beanbags yourself.

What is the beanbag filled with?

All Sit&Joy beanbags are filled with FlexiPearl® Original pearls. Where a normal beanbag soon starts to lose its strength and shape due to age and wear, FlexiPearl® lasts longer!

FlexiPearl® Orignal filling is made of new white EPS pearls. The air chamber of each ball is intact and therefore resilient. This means that the beanbag retains its volume for much longer.

In addition, FlexiPearl® has the advantage that this filling does not absorb water. This makes FlexiPearl® better suited for outdoor use compared to other beanbag fillings.



When should I refill my beanbag?

The filling of EPS beads will collapse over time. This strongly depends on how often the beanbag is used. We see that most beanbags need to be refilled with extra beads after 1 to 4 years of use.

Tip: Sit&Joy beanbags are equipped with the FlexiPearl® EasyFill System. This makes it easy to refill the beanbags by filling the beanbag with FlexiPearl® filling.



What is the FlexiPearl® EasyFill System?

The Sit&Joy beanbags are supplied with the EasyFill System from FlexiPearl®.

This allows you to easily zip the bag with new beads from FlexiPearl® to the filling opening of the beanbag. Lift the bag with extra pearls and the pearls will flow straight into the beanbag!

You can decide how tightly you want to fill the beanbag. Save what's left to refill the beanbag over time. This means that you do not have to immediately buy new filling, as with other brands.

A video is available with helpful instructions.

Some beanbags in our stock do not yet have a zipper for the EasyFill System. Then you will receive an extra filling tube (tube) plus a roll of tape to do it the old way, also without the mess!



How many pearls does a beanbag contain?

A 400 liter Sit&Joy beanbag contains approximately 4,000,000 beads. 100 liters of beanbag filling contains approximately 1 million pearls.



Why don't you use recycled EPS as beanbag filling?

We use FlexiPearl® Original. These are new white EPS beads. The air chamber of each ball is intact and therefore resilient.

With recycled EPS filling, Styrofoam blocks are ground into granules of 2-4 millimeters. Some balls will still be intact but ±80% will be broken Styrofoam without air chambers. This will prevent the filling from denting and the beanbag will lose its volume very quickly.



Why don't you use sustainable EPS as beanbag filling?

Quality is our priority. That's why we choose FlexiPearl® Original.

The latest developments in EPS are sustainable green EPS beads. These pearls are initially less sustainable to produce but can be completely recycled.

But only if the pearls are 100% recycled is it a sustainable product. And therein lies the problem: the EPS beads can only be recycled by a specialized company that can turn them into a raw material with a chemical solution. This is not attractive for consumers.

There is also biodegradable foam filling. However, biodegradable filling will compost on its own when it comes into contact with moisture. We do not consider this desirable.

We closely monitor developments in the field of sustainability and hope to be able to invest in a sustainable alternative for consumers.



Why don't you use foam as beanbag filling?

Foam filling for beanbags consists of foam flakes. Such a filling is actually just a mattress cut to pieces.

The advantage of foam flakes is that you can vacuum pack the filling and therefore easily transport it. Once you arrive at your destination, unpack it and it will expand into its final shape.

The biggest disadvantage is that the foam flakes absorb water and are therefore absolutely not suitable for outdoor use. Because if this filling becomes wet or even a little damp, mold will quickly develop.

Returning a beanbag with foam flakes will also prove to be a difficult task. This is because the box in which you receive the beanbag is much smaller and you cannot vacuum pack the beanbag yourself.

That's why we chose FlexiPearl® EPS Original.

How do I store my beanbag?

Store your beanbag in a dry, dark place. This way the colors last best and do not fade. Make sure the beanbag is completely dry before storing to prevent mold and weather spots.

If you store the beanbag in a place where mice may be present, such as a shed or attic, put the dry beanbag in a large plastic bag.



How do I clean my beanbag?

Stains in the beanbag cover can be easily removed with a wet cloth and mild soap. Just rub gently and the stain will disappear.

The beanbag cover can be washed in the washing machine. But because it is filled with millions of pearls, this is not recommended.



How do I remove mold / weather spots from my beanbag?

If you do not store the beanbag dry or leave it outside for too long, mold can grow in the beanbag. Small black dots will then form.

Removing mold from the beanbag is important to maintain its durability and better for your health.

Please note that it is important to address mold as soon as possible to prevent further spread and damage. If the fungus has penetrated too deeply or if the beanbag is seriously damaged, it may be necessary to purchase a new beanbag.


Mild soap solution

Mix a mild soap solution with warm water. Do not use harsh chemicals as they can damage the fabric of the beanbag. Gently apply the soap solution to the affected area using a soft brush or sponge.


Vinegar solution

If the above does not work, we recommend white vinegar. Vinegar is known for its antifungal properties. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the mold areas. Let it soak in for a while.


Sunlight

Then let the hammock dry in direct sunlight. Sunlight can help kill any remaining mold spores and disinfect the beanbag.

To prevent mold formation in theTo prevent this from happening in the future, make sure you let the beanbag dry completely before storing it. Also store the beanbag in a dry, well-ventilated place.



Can I repair my beanbag?

Repairing a beanbag depends on the type of damage that has occurred. Here are some tips to address common beanbag problems:


Small cracks or holes

It is best to close small cracks or holes immediately. This way you have no chance of the beanbag tearing out further.

You can close these holes or tears with a needle and thread. Use strong thread and make several stitches to completely close the tear.

If the tear is a bit larger, you can sew a piece of strong fabric over the tear at the top and bottom. Place the repair fabric on both sides of the damaged area and sew it with strong thread.


Loose seams

If the seams of the beanbag become loose, sew them by hand or with a sewing machine. Use strong sewing thread and make several stitches to secure the seam.



How do I recycle my beanbag?

Is your beanbag really worn out, beyond repair or cleaning? Then recycle your beanbag!


Beanbag cover

You can hand in the cover of the beanbag at a clothing collection point. The fabric can be 100% recycled.

At a clothing collection point, they first sort for good clothing that can still be reused. All worn-out clothing and other materials are then recycled. You can simply hand in your beanbag without filling at a clothing collection point.


Beanbag filling

You can hand in the EPS beads at a recycling station with a collection point for EPS and/or Styrofoam. Is this not available in your area? Then the pearls belong in the residual waste.

Who invented the beanbag?

In 1968, three Italian designers Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini and Franco Teodor designed a chair that was very peculiar. It was no ordinary chair but a bag filled with pearls. This chair was named 'Sacco' and was very unique at the time.

Although there were no extreme expectations, the Sacco became very popular and not only in Italy. The Sacco became a hit worldwide, giving birth to the so-called Beanbag.

Since then, the beanbag has become indispensable and has become a real lifestyle product. Many different beanbag models have been added. But the primary function of sitting comfortably remains!
